At the start of this project, I was pondering what waste means to me.

I came up with this: waste is when we could do things better; be more materially efficient.

Over half the population of the world are women. We are childbearing for over 40 years during our lifetime, though few of those years are spent actually bearing children.

As a result, an industry has been built around our natural biological function. The nSync miniform, maxi pads, Sea Pearls, Kotex ultra pads, the Diva Cup, Silk Sea Sponge Tampons, the Instead softcup, pantiliners and tampons are all designed to do the same thing.

They are enclosed in pastel, pretty packaging and come fit with unnecessary applicators and plastic wrappers.

Why do we create so much waste from the cycle which is the most universally recyclable function?
